AMB Webinar Series: Solid Body, Smart Mind Demand Generation for Anemia Mukt Bharat
An online webinar on ‘Solid Body, Smart Mind Demand Generation for Anemia Mukt Bharat’ was jointly organized under the aegis of Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) Webinar Series by UNICEF, Bill & Melinda gates Foundation, New Concept Centre for Development Communication, Tarang SBCC Hub and We Collaborate for Nutrition (WeCan) on 5th August 2020. Coincidentally, this webinar was conducted during the World Breastfeeding Week 2020.
The webinar focused on Demand generation for AMB. The introductory remarks were delivered by Dr Sila Deb, Additional Commissioner, Child Health and Nutrition, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Siddharth Shrestha, Chief, C4D, UNICEF. In his introductory remarks, Mr. Shrestha focused on the need for reimagining SBCC for AMB demand generation.
In the panel on Budgeting for AMB Demand Generation Deepika Chaudhery, Senior Health, Nutrition and Population Specialist, World Bank talked about the role of POSHAN Abhiyaan in demand generation for AMB. This was followed by an extremely insightful presentation by Preetu Mishra, Nutrition Specialist, UNICEF-Jharkhand on how Jharkhand undertook Budgeting for AMB Demand Generation under National Health Mission.
The next panel focused on Implementation Science of AMB Demand Generation. Here, the speakers shared ground level experiences. Dr Rajiv Rimal, JHU threw light on the Socio-Normative Intervention to Reduce Anemia in Odisha through the RANI Project. Daya Shankar Singh, C4D Officer, UNICEF-Uttar Pradesh shared the implementation experience of AMB SBCC strategy in Uttar Pradesh and lastly, Pavan Mamidi, Director, Centre for Social and Behaviour Change presented insights from Designing and Piloting of Behaviour Change Programme to Increase Adherence to Iron-Folic Acid Supplementation for Iron Deficiency Anemia.
The webinar was moderated by Archana Vyas, Deputy Director- Communications, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and a summary of deliberations was presented by Rachana Sharma, C4D Specialist, UNICEF.
The webinar was attended by over 200 participants on Zoom and around 300 participants joined the live streaming of the webinar on Facebook Live.
